Role at CSBM

As President and COO of CSBM, Karen is primarily responsible for ensuring that the needs of all CSBM clients are being met. In addition to managing all operations of the company, she supports the launch of new charter schools, guides schools through the grant application process, transitions schools to new accounting software, conducts financial audits, and provides professional development to Directors of Finance and Operations. In her more than five years with the company, Karen has worked with more than 50 charter schools in New York and New Orleans and has presented at numerous workshops and conferences around the country. Karen is the recipient of several prestigious awards, including Profiles in Diversity Journal’s “Women Worth Watching” in 2014, which acknowledges women who have distinguished themselves in executive careers. She is also the winner of New York SmartCEO’s 2014 Executive Management Award and 2016 Brava Award for her accomplishments as Chief Operating Officer of CSBM.

Prior Experience

Karen previously worked as the Director of Operations for a school in the Achievement First network, which operates in New York City and Connecticut.
